HINDU TEMPLE OF KENTUCKYP.O Box 22813, 4213 Accomack Drive, Louisville, KY 40252 TEL# (502) 429-8888 |
Brief History and Milestones
A small group of devotees between 1983 and 1985 realized the need for a temple and incorporated the Hindu Temple of Kentucky on April 25, 1985.
The Hindu Temple of Kentucky was chartered and registered as a non-profit 501-c(3) organization on September 11, 1985. The Constitution, By-laws and the structure of the organization were prepared and approved on September 28, 1988.
The wishes of Hindu religious adherents came true when a group of donors generously donated 21 acres of land in the Fincastle subdivision of Jefferson County, Louisville.
The temple project picked up momemtum and generous donations from several notable devotees in the community started pouring in for a complex consisting of the temple hall and & Tulsi Marg - the paved road and the parking lot.
The whole project was divided into 3 stages:
The temple was kept open and services were performed by devotee volunteers until a full-time priest came from India in January 1991.
At every stage of development the elected Board of Regents, the Management committee and all active devotees of the Hindu Temple of Kentucky are strongly committed to build the most economical and financially debt-free temple to meet the needs of our small Hindu community in this area.
